May & Kuhn is a collaboration between New Zealand designer Nell May and German novelist Kevin Kuhn

Since 2015, May & Kuhn have experienced daily life with products by L&Z Elements, including the Sinus Trestle and Ed Mobile Pedestal (both by Daniel Lorch), and the Roll Up Bin (Michel Charlot); in 2017 Sam Rountree Williams’ oil painting Paralysing Stasis (2016) was added to their collection.

As an exhibition, May & Kuhn will temporarily extend the presence of both Rountree Williams and L&Z within their Berlin-Moabit living and working environment – a reconfigured 50sqm apartment within a 1959 post-war building. New oil paintings by Rountree Williams will be exhibited along with further examples of L&Z’s versatile product designs.

Sam Rountree Williams (1986, Hamilton, New Zealand) is an artist who lives and works in Berlin. He gained his BFA from Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland, in 2007; and from 2009-10 he was a guest student at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

L&Z Elements is a Berlin based company established in 2011 by Daniel Lorch and Aidin Zimmermann. In cooperation with leading and young designers, L&Z develops simple, functional and high quality products that readily adapt to contemporary living and working patterns.
